I’ve always wanted to go full, self-indulgent client with landscape and get some high powered designer to give me the works- hard-scape, plants, water features. I’ve never had the money to do this so every house we owned so far has been DIY landscaping on the cheap. What this means to me is putting in small. Inexpensive plants and waiting for them to grow. It generally means planting without a plan, Willy-nilly. It also means lazy, not doing the research and settling for whatever happens. When you are young, you rationalize this working you since you never imagine that you will get old or that time will run out. You seldom worry about what it will look like long-term either.
