What goes up must come down. I can’t explain the big jump in page loads and visitors at the beginning of July but I can explain the drop. I got some technical help and moved my blog from a directory to the main URL. Since most of the traffic is from odd searches unrelated to the tightened focus. Most of these visitors do not stay so this is not a big problem. I am more concerned about returning visitors. The returning visitors stayed relatively stable for July. The July average is slightly lower than June (9 vs 10). I think that the keyword work and some work in making my blog more visible to people and search engines is beginning to help. For the past week, returning visitors is up in the low two digits. I am hoping that tighter focus on my niche – outrageous retirement is making an impact. I actually had visitors that googled retirement showing up, along with architecture and wordpress plugins. This will all take time but I feel like I am finally on the way to focusing on a niche and improving the SEO
