Inspiration is all around
When you poke around the web, it is hard not to be impressed and inspired by the community. When I read the Pre-Writing Challenge from Carlos, I realized that if I want to earn respect and (eventually) money from my Internet activities, it is time to step up. I have been working hard delivering my content JIT (Just In Time) which may be a good practice for manufacturing but not so good for information. It may also handicap my goal of building a community of interested readers. Serious people step up and with the examples of James and Carlos who are delivering fantastic content while holding down regular jobs, whining is just not going to make it. I accept Carlos’ challenge.
What is the Pre-Writing Challenge?
The challenge is to develop two weeks of blog posts over the next month in addition to the normal schedule of posting. Carlos has attracted a bunch of serious bloggers to join him and they will all be posting about their progress. I was slow to take this all in and hung up about getting myself organized but I sat down last night and did some serious planning. I keep saying that I want to move to the next level of blogging even though I don’t exactly understand what that might be. So I am going to take up Carlos’ challenge even though I am late to the table and unclear where I am going. With the help of Steve and the plan a week system, I think I can do it.
Accept Carlos’ Challenge and more
I decided last night that I am going to schedule to prepare 5 additional posts each week so that after one month I will have a month’s worth of drafts. With that kind of reserve, I will have much more flexibility in moving ahead in other areas like developing a product or looking at some of the other ways of making money that I just don’t have the time to pursue without slacking off with the blog.
Keep me honest
I will be posting about my progress as I work through the next month and I will be checking with Carlos and the rest of his challenge crew as well. Nothing helps a runner so much as serious competition. Right now James is in a class of his own but the only way to get to his level is to up my effort like Carlos and his crew. It is time to leave the herd and take after the leader.
Interesting challenge Ralph. I think I am going to start doing this in a week too. At the moment I am way too busy but in a week from now I should have enough time to get my blog pumped up with articles.
