The Top Ten Reasons for Baby Boomers to Blog

1.   Blogging is cool!

Face it boomers, you are suckers for cool. All your life, society has been presenting you with cool new things and you have bought them all. Now is no time to stop. Blogging is cool and if you expect to end your cool baby boomer life like you began it, you need to be blogging.

2.  Blogging is mentally stimulating.

One of the risks of retiring is that you let your mental activity fall off. Without mental stimulation you begin to decline. Blogging keeps those juices flowing. You are constantly looking for new material, learning better ways of communication. It is like your job – except you can do it on your terms.

3.  Blogging provides a second level of social connections.

You have your family and friends and you keep up those social connections but blogging provides a whole new layer of connections and relationships that work in different ways and makes your life richer.

4.  Blogging can make you money.

You may not reach the highest level of blogging income without putting in serious effort but if you can build a community of followers for your blog there are passive income techniques that can add some to your retirement.  It is all good.

5.  Blogging can improve your communication skills.

You may not be looking to become a better communicator but getting better at communications can help anybody, where ever they are in life. Blogging will teach you to write better and get your ideas across to your audience.

6.  Blogging helps you learn.

We hear people say that you should never stop learning but it can be easy to slack off in retirement or a dead end job. Blogging makes you learn because you are mastering areas of knowledge for your blog and to keep ahead of your readers you will

7.  Blogging provides resources and help for your issues and needs.

When you blog about an issue that is important to you whether it is health or maybe managing your financial resources you will connect with a community that has similar interests. They will share what they know and when you combine the knowledge from the community, everybody is better off in handling that issue.

8.  Blogging gives you fulfillment.

Blogging can give you a sense of purpose after your family is grown and you retire from your job. You are doing something which is not only important to you, it is important to the community that follows your blog. You have made a lasting difference for others whose lives are richer by what you do.

9.  Blogging provides a mission.

People with a mission and purpose get up excited and eager to face a new day. They know that they matter and that what they are doing will help them, their families and communities of unknown people all around the world.

    Great article Ralph. The only thing I’d suggest is that it gives you a platform to share your passions/support your community or create a legacy.
