Follow the Trail to Outrageous Retirement
A series of recent posts uses the slogan ‘Outrageous Retirement’ to describe how to approach the last new frontier in your life. I suggest a no holds barred, full front assault because this is you last chance to get your life right. There have always been excuses to do the easy thing and you could always tell yourself that you will have time later. Right now is the later you were always thinking about and if you don’t find the time now, there won’t be any.
Is Outrageous Retirement the same as Lifestyle Design?
There are lots of ways to go about creating a fulfilling retirement lifestyle. You can just call it lifestyle design because that is truly what it is but there is a lot of lifestyle design going around these days and most of it doesn’t focus on the retirement community. There are plenty of good resources but maybe you won’t connect the dots to see how it relates to you and your retirement. It is a simple process. Define what kind of life you want to be living your perfect day ( in Frank Kern’s words) and then change your life around to make it happen. Simple to say. Difficult to do.
Breaking out of old patterns is outrageous
The reason that it is difficult is inertia. Everything that you have acquired over your lifetime, the possessions, the habits, the associations has trapped you into a life pattern that is difficult to break. That is why I use the term ‘outrageous’. Unless you have achieved the perfect life already, there are unfulfilled dreams left in your head. What everyone expects is that in retirement you drift along the course set earlier in your life and finish with a whimper. The outrageous retirement embraces those unfulfilled dreams and makes them happen. It could mean moving, learning, joining but whatever you need to change to follow your dream will seem outrageous to other people who are going with the flow.
So follow the Trail and share your retirement adventures
